passionate photography

Welcome to Alexandrite Photography PNW! My name is Mikaela and the majestic emerald city is my backyard. I love mobile photography and take pride in “just using my cellphone” as my way to express creativity.

My love of photography started a few years ago when I really started to appreciate how beautiful nature is and what Mother Nature has to offer. Adventuring out in the Seattle area has only made my love of the mountains, the sea, and fresh air stronger. I am in the perfect area to view the Cascades and the Olympics on a daily basis, depending on weather. Located right on the Puget Sound, it’s the best of both worlds and no where else I’d rather be.

Today, my love of photography has grown since I have had my daughter. Taking pictures of her over the months since she was born has only help my progress in photography. The joy I get from watching her grow and the sentimental value of them has brought me here. I want to bring you the same warm fuzzy feeling to your photos - whether it be your family, your engagement, whatever it is you’d love your photos to be of.

Photos are meant to remind us of what’s important in life. They give us a moment to reflect, to slow down, to cherish, to be thankful for what we have, or had.

This is why I chose Alexandrite.

Alexandrite is a rare precious gemstone first founded from Russia that is the original birthstone for the month of June. It is a beautiful green stone, once thought to be emeralds until the miners found the color change. These beautiful gems would change from green, to blue, to purple, to red - sometimes reflecting all colors at once. This stone has been known to bring luck, for fortune, and romance.*

It opens the crown chakra, bringing one access to the warm, healing energy and love of the universe. It is also said to strengthen intuition, creativity, and imagination.

It is also said that through the stone, joy enters the lives of people with too much self-discipline. The stone reminds us of our purpose in life and our origin. It gives hope to those who are in despair about their lives. It brings strength and constantly reminds them of the light. With its changing color, it is a reminder that life is not only what it seems to be.”*

For me, Alexandrite and photography are one in the same.

Photography is meant to capture those moments that are life changing, that fill your soul, that bring your happiness, that remind you of what makes your life important.

Alexandrite is my birthstone and my daughters middle name. I am proud to be connected to the gemstone. I am excited to create my photography off of the characteristics and values Alexandrite is known for. I hold this very close to my heart. I am here to capture those moments for you and create your own precious gemstones to reflect on.
